In 1895 a canvass was made and during that summer services held in what was known as 'The Gray House' near Guilford; then moved to Pfeiffer's Corner school house. On December 28, 1896 a meeting was called for organizing a congregation and a call was extended to our first paster. The next year a lot was purchased and the church erected, being dedicated June 13, 1897. In September 1921 the congregation was accepted by the Joint Synod of Ohio for membership. St. John's Church has been blessed with a slow but steady growth and on June 13, 1954 ground was broken for a new church.
